Bangkok, 16 June 2023 – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) participated in the signing ceremony for the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Enhanced Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding Concerning Consultation and Cooperation and the Exchange of Information (EMMoU) during the MMoU/EMMoU Monitoring Group meeting at the 48th IOSCO Annual Meeting 2023, hosted by the Thai SEC. The EMMoU signed on is aimed to enhance efficiency of cross-border supervision and enforcement cooperation and assistance among IOSCO members in response to emerging trends and challenges in the capital market brought about by the rapidly evolving technologies.

On 15 June 2023, the SEC took part in the MMoU/EMMoU Monitoring Group meeting, in which IOSCO members’ information sharing and assistance under the MMoU/EMMoU framework was reported, and made an announcement that the IOSCO, having considered that the Thai SEC has in place international standards of information sharing and exchange mechanism in line with the IOSCO benchmarks, had approved for the Thai SEC to become a signatory to the EMMoU.

The IOSCO EMMoU, built upon the IOSCO MMoU introduced in 2002, was adopted in 2017 to strengthen efficiency in cross-border enforcement cooperation among IOSCO members to keep pace with the emerging risks and challenges caused by technological advances. The Thai SEC is among the inaugural group of 23, out of 130, securities regulators that are approved to become IOSCO EMMoU signatories.
