SEC in discussion with TLCA to collaboratively establish guidelines for enhancing fundraising supervision and mitigating obstacles for listed companies

Bangkok, 5 January 2024The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has engaged in a discussion with the Thai Listed Companies Association (TLCA) to lay out guidelines and exchange views on improving regulations for issuance and offering for sale of securities as well as supervision of listed companies. The discussion included other policy directions that could mitigate burdens and obstacles in accessing funding sources and fulfilling duties of listed companies. Both parties also shared ideas on developing a more trustworthy and reliable capital market in Thailand.    


Mrs. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, SEC Secretary-General, and the management team convened a meeting with Mr. Chanin Vongkusolkit, TLCA Chairman, and the board members to discuss collaboration in developing and enhancing oversight of listed companies and strategies for preventing and suppressing inappropriate behaviors within listed companies to ensure that they would be able to raise fund from investors and have their securities listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), while growing sustainably in accordance with good corporate governance. In addition, both parties cooperated to build a proactive teamwork to further advance joint initiatives in various areas such as promotion of listed companies’ adoption of Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting took place at the SEC Building on 5 January 2024.    


SEC Secretary-General said: “The SEC highly values our collaboration with the TLCA, which plays a crucial role as a forum for knowledge sharing and exchange of ideas among listed companies. Additionally, the TLCA serves as a representative for listed companies in coordinating and monitoring the amendments to various regulations issued by regulators. This is to ensure that listed companies will be able to perform their duties accurately and thoroughly in accordance with laws and regulations. Over the years, the SEC and the TLCA has been working together to enhance the duty performance of persons involved in the operations of listed companies, and to promote the awareness of the importance of sustainable development among listed companies.”

“I would like to thank all members of the TLCA who participated in this meeting to strengthen our collaboration and proactive teamwork. Together we are fostering sustainable development in the capital market as well as building trust and confidence among Thai and international investors,” she added.
