Bangkok, 10 April 2025 – The Securities and Exchange Commission, Thailand (SEC) has announced the latest collaboration with Meta Platforms, Inc. and Facebook Thailand through training activities that focus on strengthening protection for businesses and their brand assets.

This collaboration aims to empower businesses with knowledge and tools for safeguarding their brand assets and intellectual property (IP) rights, for example, Brand Rights Protection and Meta Verified tools. The business sector is encouraged to apply these tools to enhance their protection mechanisms, thereby promoting a safer online environment.

Prof. Pornanong Budsaratragoon, Ph.D., SEC Secretary-General, said: “Today’s event was aimed at promoting and supporting the development of stronger mechanisms to help businesses and organizations in the capital market safeguard their brand identity and intellectual property while preventing potential brand impersonation. This collaboration marked a significant step forward in equipping the industry with tools and knowledge to uphold trust and confidence in the capital market.”

Protecting investors and building a trustworthy capital market is one of the priorities laid out in the SEC Strategic Plan for 2025 - 2027. This includes enhancing active cooperation with both public and private sectors to block investment fraud channels. The SEC aims to leverage technology to protect businesses and investors from IP-related threats, extending this to safeguard investors in the capital market from investment scams.

Mr. Just Wang, Associate General Counsel from Meta
emphasized, "We appreciate the SEC as a valuable partner, and look forward to working together to protect IP rights and combat online threats. Meta is committed to developing its IP protection tools, such as the Brand Rights Protection tool, which helps brands protect their IP on Meta's platforms. This tool allows brands to identify and report copyright and trademark infringements, and business impersonation. Brand owners can register for this tool on Meta Business Suite."

The event included a discussion on the topic, "Intellectual Property Threat: Challenges and Solutions" featured Dr. Kobsak Pootrakool, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations (FETCO), Police Colonel Apirak Jampasri, Director of Technology Crime Suppression Division 3, and Ing Sirikulbordee, Public Policy Manager at Facebook Thailand. They shared insights and discussed public- private collaboration and tools for enhancing brand protection on digital platforms.

Experts from Meta Platforms Inc. and Facebook Thailand conducted training sessions on Meta's community standards and strategies for brand and page protection. The Brand Rights Protection tool is designed to help businesses detect and report potential intellectual property violations, ensuring that their brand assets are safeguarded. Additionally, Meta Verified registration was discussed as a means to authenticate genuine accounts or pages, thereby supporting businesses in maintaining their brand integrity.

The SEC was dedicated to fostering a secure environment that supports businesses in protecting their intellectual property.
