Bangkok, October 6, 2015 ? The SEC is seeking public comment on draft rules governing business operators of investment services to customers in foreign currency denominated products which are offered overseas as well as in Thailand. The revised rules cover guidelines for advertisement and publication, areas of permissible marketing activities in Thailand and instructions of benefits received from overseas products seller and issuer.
Mr. Pariya Techamuanvivit Director, Corporate Affairs Department said that the objectives of the rule-amendment are to clarify business criteria and broaden scope of services for licensed business operators in Thailand. The revised rules will support business capabilities for local players as well as enable them to gain further experiences in providing services to customers, to be ready for competition from international players as a result of the Bank of Thailand?s policy to allow investors to invest overseas directly without servicing of Thai business operators in 2016.
The SEC, therefore, discloses consultation paper is on www.sec.or.th. Stakeholders and interested parties are welcome to submit comments through the website, or facsimile number at 0-2263-6311 or email address at rangrong@sec.or.th until November 28, 2015.
