Bangkok, March 25, 2016 ? The SEC is seeking public comments on a draft amendment to the rules on conversion of property funds into real estate investment trusts (REIT) to facilitate fund mobilization that better responds to private sectors? demands.??|
The draft amendment lays out more convenient terms and conditions for converting into REIT as it is a more efficient fundraising vehicle that is internationally recognized and more flexible than property fund.
Essentially, the amendment would offer an option to convert one or more property funds into an existing REIT or establish a new REIT, and investment in a new property may be proposed for the unitholders? consideration in concurrent with the proposal for approval of fund conversion. In addition, a property fund would be allowed to issue remedy measures for the unitholders who do not wish to have their investment converted into REIT.?
The consultation paper is available at www.sec.or.th/hearing . Stakeholders and interested parties are welcome to submit comments through the website, or facsimile at 0-2263-6364 or email: corporat@sec.or.th.??
The public hearing ends on April 22, 2016.
