SEC reorganization takes effect on 1 July 2019

Bangkok, 1 July 2019 – The SEC has restructured its organization with more focus on the balance between capital market development and investor protection. The reorganization has resulted in a new arrangement of work divisions, consolidation of work units with similar nature, and appointments of deputy secretaries-general and assistant secretaries-general.

SEC Secretary-General Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol said: “The SEC Board Meeting No. 6/2562 has approved the restructuring of the SEC organization at the-line-of-command level, the rearrangement of the work divisions, and the appointments of deputy secretaries-general and assistant secretaries-general. The new organizational strategy aims to push forward capital market development in accordance with the 20-year National Strategy amid the changing ecosystem.”  

According to the new corporate structure, there are two additional work divisions, namely (1) Digital Transformation and Internal Excellence and (2) Stakeholders Relations whose roles include promoting and facilitating nationwide democratized access to products and services in the capital market. Moreover, the Corporate Finance Department and the Corporate Monitoring Department have been merged to be in charge of fully-fledged supervision of listed companies, while the Fin Tech Department is the center of digital asset-related work. In addition, the Office of the Secretary-General has been established to support the SEC Board and integrated collaboration with external parties. The SEC reorganization becomes effective on 1 July 2019.   

At the meeting, the SEC Board approved senior executive appointments in the positions of deputy secretary-general and assistant secretary-general, as follows:

1. Mrs. Waratchya Srimachand, Deputy Secretary-General, in charge of Legal Development and Enforcement;

2. Mrs. Paralee Sukonthaman, Deputy Secretary-General, in charge of Intermediary and Market Supervision, Investment Management Policy and Supervision, and Stakeholders Relations;

3. Mr. Kumpol Sontanarat, Assistant Secretary-General, in charge of Digital Transformation and Internal Excellence;

4. Mr. Thawatchai Pittayasophon, Assistant Secretary-General, in charge of Legal Development; and

5. Ms. Jomkwan Kongsakul, Assistant Secretary-General, in charge of Fundraising.

The executive appointments above have taken effect since 10 June 2019. Under the new structure, Mrs. Sirivipa Supantanet, Deputy Secretary-General, is in charge of Capital Market Policy, Fundraising and Accounting and Auditing Supervision.
