SEC allows listed companies with core business in COVID-19 affected countries to extend submission period of financial statements
Friday 21 February 2020 | No. 30 / 2020
Bangkok, 21 February 2020 – Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, SEC allows listed companies having core business in the countries that are affected by the outbreak to postpone submission of financial statements on the condition that a written request is submitted for SEC’s consideration on a case-by-case basis before the submission deadline is expired.
SEC
Secretary-General Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol said: “The deadline for listed
companies to submit their annual financial statements and other reports as required
by law is approaching but the COVID-19 outbreak in many counties has not been
resolved. Such current situation may have a negative impact on Thai listed
companies that have core business in COVID-19 affected countries, or it might
interrupt international travel plans of directors to the point that listed
companies are unable to hold the board of directors’ meeting to seek approval
of the companies’ financial statements.”
In
this regard, listed companies facing limitations or effects of the said outbreak,
causing the inability to submit reports by the deadline, may send a written
request to SEC for deadline extension approval before the submission period is
expired.
