SEC Thailand Discusses Enhancing International Cooperation with SECC

Bangkok, 15 May 2019 – SEC Secretary-General Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol, along with SEC Assistant Secretary-General Praoporn Senanarong, and Director of Strategy and International Affairs Department Julawadee Worasakyothin, met with His Excellency Mr. Sou Socheat, Director General of Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia (SECC)on May 14, 2019 in Sydney, Australia, where they attended the 2019 Annual Meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

The management of two agencies discussed on enhancing cooperation between SEC Thailand and the SECC for capital markets development and supervision. This included encouraging listed companies from Cambodia to issue cross-border securities offerings, through secondary listing or dual listing, which will benefit the businesses that are highly interconnected in the real sector. SEC Thailand and SECC also discussed about possibility in  developing other cross-border products, such as depositary receipts (DR) and infrastructure funds, as well as further cooperation in exchanging information for supervision, by establishing a clear timeframe for improved progress of the cooperation program.

In this regard , The Management of SEC Thailand also expressed the good will to pay the courtesy visit to His Excellency Mr. Sou Socheat and the executives of SECC  in July 2019, with a view to strengthen relations between the organizations and encourage concrete cooperation  for the development of both capital markets in the long run.

Notedly, SEC Thailand has strengthened strong cooperation with CLMV countries to promote regional connectivity in capital markets, in line with national policy related to the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint 2025 and the Chair’s Priorities, in the dimension of the connectivity, under the 5th ASEAN Finance Ministers’ and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting in Chiang Rai Province in April 2019.
