The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), in collaboration with the Investment Banking Club and the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), organized a seminar titled “Enhancing IPO Standards: Key Issues and Challenges” under the Strengthening Corporate Governance of Listed Companies Initiative. The seminar aimed to reinforce the role of financial advisors as gatekeepers in preparing companies for IPO and listing on the stock exchange. The seminar also included a knowledge sharing session among supervisors and insights into the financial advisors' role from the perspective of regulators supporting the efforts to elevate the quality and governance of listed companies, including those undergoing backdoor listings and resuming trades. During the event, Mr. Paiboon Damrongwaree and Ms. Areerawan Iamdilokwong, SEC Assistant Secretaries-General, along with SEC executives, participated in the panel discussion. Representatives from financial advisory companies, the SET, and experts in internal control systems and financial reporting standards shared experiences and perspectives on crucial preparatory topics for companies seeking fundraising. These included practical challenges, best practices in due diligence, and suggestions for improving IPO standards. Over 400 participants attended the seminar on 5 November 2024, in Bangkok.
