SEC public hearing on proposed revision to securities offering to HNW investors

Thursday 28 July 2016 | No. 70 / 2016

Bangkok, July 28, 2016 ? The SEC is seeking public comments on a proposed revision to the securities offering rule whereby offering of debt securities, infrastructure trust units and depository receipts to high net worth investors, except institutional investors, must be done through intermediaries.

Senior Assistant Secretary-General Prakid Punyashthiti said: ?The current rules allow high net worth investors to invest in a diverse range of securities products. By requiring that all types of securities offering to high net worth investors be proceeded through intermediaries, the proposed revision would ensure that such investors would have adequate access to relevant information to better understand financial products before making well informed investment decisions.?

The consultation paper is available at www.sec.or.th/hearing. Stakeholders and interested parties are welcome to submit comments through the website, or facsimile at 0-2695-4675 or email: chortip@sec.or.th or ajaree@sec.or.th.

The public hearing ends on August 19, 2016.
