SEC plans to revise rules on information disclosure for green bond offering

Monday 19 November 2018 | No. 149 / 2018

Bangkok, Monday 19 November 2018 – SEC will amend its regulations on information disclosure of green bond offering to promote investment and fund mobilization of enterprises that are environmentally concerned.

SEC intends to revise its regulations on information disclosure of green bond offering for those who need to issue and offer green bonds in compliance with international standards. Additional information is required in the filing of debt instrument offering including use of proceeds, process for project evaluation and selection, management of proceeds, and reporting. Appointment of an external review provider to assess each step of the bond offering and issuance is encouraged.

This regulatory revision was introduced to align with the SEC’s strategic plan to promote investment and fund raising of enterprises which are environmentally beneficial in the following issues: (1) solutions to reduce pollution; (2) promotion of biodiversity conservation; and (3) measures against the adverse effects of climate change.

SEC disseminates the public hearing document on this issue on SEC website: www.sec.or.th/hearing.
