SEC has launched the https://เสี่ยงสูง.com/ microsite, a center for basic knowledge of digital assets for the public, consisting of four topics. The first one is “Knowing Them” which introduces digital assets, namely cryptocurrencies and digital tokens, information on sellers and blockchain mechanisms or distributed database systems consisting of a mechanism allowing transactions to be conducted without intermediaries, including links for checking definitions under the law on digital asset business operation.

The next topic is “Knowing Us.” Under this topic, a checklist is provided for investors to check if they are ready before making an investment decision as to whether they understand digital assets, understand the right to be received from digital assets, and understand and accept the risks from making such investment if the entire investment amount is lost. The next topic is “Being Cautious” under which awareness is raised for the public to know what they need to be wary of if they will invest in digital assets and to be aware that the supervision and regulation thereof by government agencies can partially reduce risks, such as the risk of being deceived and being taken advantage of by unfair business operations. However, other types of risks are also present, such as business risks of entities and the risk due to volatile prices of digital assets.

Lastly, “Knowing SEC’s Roles” is the topic that provides information on supervision of SEC which covers supervision of offering of tokens to the public (primary market) and supervision of intermediaries in the trading and exchange of digital assets (secondary market). In addition, there are continuous news updates regarding digital assets for the public to read and understand them before making an investment.

SEC Secretary-General Rapee Sucharitakul, said, “Digital assets are useful to the public as a fundraising tool and are the medium for exchange. However, as they are high-risk assets, the market is for those who are the real fans with a good knowledge and understanding of technology only but not for general investors. In addition, previously SEC found that certain persons exploited the timing to deceive the public by citing digital assets. As such, SEC has to warn investors to continue being cautious. The launch of the “เสี่ยงสูง.com” microsite is therefore the center for essential information for interested persons in general before considering investing in digital assets.”
