Thursday 7 January 2021 | No. 5 / 2021

Bangkok, 7 January 2021 – The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is seeking public comments on the formulation of the SEC’s code of ethics to be used as a guideline for the workforce at the SEC Office to conduct themselves and uphold merits in their duty performance.

The Ethical Standards Committee requires that state agencies formulate a code of ethics in accordance with the ethical standards specified under the Ethical Standards Act B.E. 2562 (2019). The Committee has conducted a public hearing in this matter to seek comments from state officials, stakeholders of respective agencies, service users and the public.

In this regard, SEC has drafted the SEC’s code of ethics for SEC workforce in line with the intention of the Ethical Standards Act. The drafted code of ethics contains regulations which require the workforce to perform work and uphold ethics in accordance with the ethical standards as specified in Section 5 of the Ethical Standards Act, as follows:

(1)  Loyalty to the core national institutions, i.e., Nation, Religion and Monarchy, as well as the Democratic Form of Government with His Majesty the King as Head of State, (2) Integrity, good conscious and accountability to duties, (3) Decisiveness and proper and fair conduct, (4) Contribution for public interest more than one’s own benefits and public mindedness, (5) Focus on work effectiveness, (6) Fair and impartial duty performance, and (7) Setting good examples and protecting the image of the State.

The consultation paper is available on the SEC website at https://www.sec.or.th/TH/Pages/PB_Detail.aspx?SECID=685. Stakeholders and interested parties are welcome to send comments and suggestions via email: hrm@sec.or.th. The public hearing ends on 18 January 2021
