The Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC Thailand) has partnered with the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association (HKIFA) in organizing the 3rd Hong Kong – Thailand Business Matching Day to support the participation of business operators in the Mutual Recognition of Funds between Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China and Thailand (HK-TH MRF) framework.
This webinar is the second of the series of exchanges between the Hong Kong and Thai fund industry which is co-hosted by SEC Thailand and HKIFA. The webinar aims to synergize the strengths of Hong Kong and Thai capital market participants and expand the business opportunities for the cross-border offerings of funds under the HK-TH MRF, following the Memorandum of Understanding between the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong (SFC Hong Kong) and SEC Thailand which was signed on 20th January 2021 and fully implemented on 16th June 2021. This webinar is joined by Hong Kong industry experts who share their views on Hong Kong fund industry landscape, the role of transfer agents, and Hong Kong tax system. The participants include fund managers, custodians, and fund distributors from 29 companies.
“SEC Thailand is committed to improving the competitiveness of Thai capital market and creating opportunities from international connectivity. One of our goals is to enhance dialogue between SFC Hong Kong and SEC Thailand and promote the connectivity between the two capital markets to open up business opportunities for market participants and broaden investment choices for investors. SEC Thailand looks forward to successive participation from market stakeholders which will deepen the cooperation between the two markets further,” said Ms. Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol, the Secretary-General of SEC Thailand.
“HKIFA is in full support of the HK-TH MRF. We have been working very closely with SEC Thailand to develop initiatives to foster exchanges between participants from both markets. We treasure very much the relationships and we hope that through our joint efforts, we can help to showcase the expertise of the industry participants from the respective markets and broaden the opportunity sets for both Hong Kong and Thai investors,” said Mrs. Sally Wong, HKIFA’s Chief Executive Officer.
